The Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation and the Startup Lisboa organize the first Legal Hackathon, in Portugal, in partnership with Microsoft and OutSystems and the Life Long Learning of UNESCO, that takes place on the 16th and 17th march, in Vieira de Almeida’s office.
With this initiative we intend to enhance the development of innovative technological solutions that bring citizens closer to law and, in this way, promote legal literacy, legal empowerment and the exercise of full citizenship.
During the two days of hackathon, the teams will be guided by technology, law and management expertise, and will have to develop innovative ideas that respond to the proposed problems and that are able to follow the strong international tendency in adopting and integrating new technologies in the way of working and process adapting of different legal actors. After the pitch of their proposals, the jury will deliberate the winning teams in the total amount of 10 thousand euros.
According to João Vieira de Almeida, Chairman of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation, “this event meets the values that are the heart of the Foundation, in order to promote an enlightened citizenship in a democratic state of law and promote the dissemination of knowledge by supporting innovative projects, which facilitate social inclusion and recognizing the unavoidable role of technology in this regard.”
