Applications for this year's edition of the VdA Academia Spring School are open. Spring School is an inclusive competency development programme, designed by VdA Academia for Law Students in collaboration with several stakeholders.
The programe is designed to complement legal knowledge (hard skills) learned at University with soft skills (social, emotional and behavioural development) which aim to promote labour market integration of young people as well as their psychological-emotional development.
The event will take place from April 15 to 17 in Peniche. Throughout 3 intensive days of practical workshops and inspiring talks, Vieira de Almeida & Associados challenges 100 students from all over the country.
This year's initiative focuses on the future of law practice and on the need for behavioural skills that will be essential for the next generation of lawyers. In an increasingly dynamic job market, which requires from young professionals' adaptability, problem solving and communication skills, critical and creative thinking, negotiation and teamwork abilities, innovation and social responsibility mindset, it is crucial to learn all these new competencies.
Spring School is also a great opportunity to meet VdA's lawyers and learn from their experience and, in the end get to participate in a summer internship. For Beatriz Francisco da Costa, trainee at VdA and former participant in the Spring School 2018 edition, this is "an absolutely indispensable experience for all who aspire to have a career in law firms. Spring School is a unique opportunity to learn about the skills that are expected of a young lawyer who is taking the first steps in the world of law practice, and want to go beyond academic training."
The participation fee includes accommodation and meals at the MH Atlântico hotel in Peniche and transport from Lisbon, Coimbra and Oporto to the hotel. Registration has a symbolic fee of 50€ and will be donated to TESE for the development of programmes that promote employability of young adults.
