VdA Academia supports the Workshop "International Anticorruption Mechanisms - The role of multilateral development banks", in which Diogo Santana Lopes, Consultant at Vieira de Almeida & Associados participates as a speaker.
In a trend led by the World Bank, multilateral development banks have created complex organizational mechanisms and sanctioning regimes to reduce fraud and corruption in their projects. Since then, hundreds of private companies have been sanctioned. In addition, about a decade ago, the leading development banks entered into an agreement to recognize mutual prohibition decisions for certain entities. However, the regime applicable in this context is still largely unknown in both the public and private sectors. This workshop aims to provide an overview of the sanctions regime of multilateral development banks, as well as to provide practical tools for registrants to ensure compliance with applicable rules.
